what is an idol in your life? this year in our CBS program we are studying the book of Daniel. today in our small group we began a discussion of what makes something into an idol in our lives today? in chapter 3 of Daniel we learn about the very "typical" idol the king had made of himself. how does this look in modern times? as we began the answers ran the gambit of money, clothes, fame, good looks, or things. then i had to say something, my personal conviction to this question, sleep. i admitted that i prefer that extra 15-30 minutes of sleep in the morning instead of getting myself out of bed and sitting down to my time of devotion. i know that when i make the time to start my day this way i see the blessings all day long! i also know, that those days i choose to roll over i will see the cracks in my faith all day long!
one time i mentioned that i had been surprised that as i added one more thing to my life (CBS last year) that i suddenly found that my hectic days became more smooth. her wonderful response was that i was tithing my time each day and the Lord was blessing me as He promised. i will never forget that and strive to roll over less and tithe my time more!
