i sit on my back porch, sip my coffee, enjoy the sounds God designed for summer mornings and let out a relaxed breath, ahhhhhhhh i am truly blessed by the Lord with this place!
there are so many things to catch you up on, but like all good things, sometimes time to develop them will make them even better :) so many blog ideas and thoughts to discuss have run through my head during my bloggy absence!
today i will tell you that it is powerful to choose thankfulness! God calls us to be thankful in all things
1 Thessalonians 5: 16Be joyful always; 17pray continually; 18give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
our natural reaction is to be hurt/prideful/sad/upset/angry (well, you get the picture;)). but the commandment here is not about any particular situation, it is a call in ALL situations. how can that be? if you take a look at verse 17...pray continually, i believe this is the answer. being in prayer allows us the access to the Holy Spirit to intercede for us during the tough times when all we want to do is stamp our foot, or be mad, or hurt, or anything other then joyful. we have a choice (we always have a choice!). do we choose joy in all things?
yesterday i had an opportunity to choose...let me be frank. IT WAS NOT EASY! my heart was hurt, it wanted to be in control, ruin my day, rub off on all those around me. i choose to take control and be thankful! the change was powerful!! God allowed me peace, he brought me so many simple joys in one tiny afternoon, he strengthened my marriage! the tough choice was made, i followed the call, and there was blessing on the other side, AMAZING!
