Another year, another...

Power outage!  I think we are becoming pros at this whole thing.  Thanks to a massive wind storm we were up all night on Thursday.  The sounds of the 70+ mph winds ripping at our house sending the rain into the windows kept us waking all night long, and the kids as well.  The power went out on one of those awake times, not too sure the exact time...but it was out.   We, along with 300,000 others in our state alone and more in the other N.E. states.  Time to start the generator.  Praise the Lord we have one!!  All in all this time around was not too eventful, no car fires, no damage to our home, or yard (all the trees were taken out in the ice storm of '08).  We had our power restored much more quickly this time around as well, 3 days instead of 7days!!  So we now plan that living where we do means winter=long term power outage.  That is ok, we'll stay!  We like our little town, the people who live here, and the community we see all around us!   Even a few hours outage really makes you appreciate the "finer" things in life (ie. a hot shower, toilet flushing on demand, a night light).  It also makes us that much more excited to see Florida next week!!
