i have been waiting a little over a week now to hear back from the doctor's office with the results of my blood work. i know! this is really not that long to wait :) i am anxious to learn any new tidbit and take another step towards something!
waiting is NOT a strong suit for me!! the Lord is teaching me even in this! knowing that i am being cared for by the great physician even while i am waiting for my earthly one to call me back :) i must relax and KNOW that!
while i am waiting i thought i would share some background with you of the 20 years of struggles i have had in this area. it is important to what has gotten me to this point and what is making my mind work on all the possibilities this change could be bringing my way...
my period showed up 20 years ago this month (i know, a little weird). it was just before my 13th birthday and i felt so very grown up! that didn't last long :) only a few years later i began to have horrid pain with my cycle and heavy flows. all this seemed odd as i was only a young teen...my mother took me to the doc. we talked, she told me it was normal and i just didn't know what to expect yet, pat, pat. well, it only got worse, by the time is was 16 my periods were holding me hostage! we went to see an ob/gyn at some point not long after and in a very short visit (less then 5 min.) she ushered us into her office and sat us down to explain what she had found. endometriosis. at that time (15 years ago) it was believed that this was a problem that effected only woman in their mid 30's and older, excluding me from the "norm". if you have known me for any length of time, you know, i am not normal :)
by 18 i had already undergone a laporotomy to clean out my organs. childbearing was an unknown for me...pain was a known.
i have dealt with this pain for all these years. i am so thankful to have 3 children in my home, 6 in my heart! i have learned so much about this body God has given me, the design, the workings, and the misfires. after my oldest son was born things came to a head again and i went back into the operating room. i have lost the use of one of my ovaries. that didn't stop my daughter and son's arrival!!
it is amazing the set up endometriosis has made for this moment in my life. being aware, going years without help, and seeing my mother push for me as my advocate so many years ago. and learning what i can live with!
back to waiting :) think i 'll throw some bananna bread in the oven and treat myself to a slice warm out of the oven while i do!!

I.m sorry, Jenna. It sounds like you've been having a tough time. You're always so cheerful, I had no idea. It's very good that you have a support system, family and friends, and can ask for help when you need it!
