what?? broncos?

i do enjoy sports!  i am a really big fan of the red sox and the patriots.  yes i do grumble and complain when they have bad seasons, but i don't stop watching ;)  so this saturday night, why am i thinking about rooting for the other team??  in a playoff game??  because i am a patriots fan, but i am also a tim tebow fan!  but i must tell you...i am not a fair weather fan of his either.  why?  well, yes, he is handsome, he stand for so much i believe in,  his memorable/controversial super bowl ad last year, and he is everywhere these days...but i really am a fan of his for reasons that take me back to h.s.

here is the story...i was homeschooled until i entered college.  i played rec. sports in our town through middle school, but in h.s. that was all over.  you see, trying out and playing on the school teams was illegal at that time.  we began to investigate options.  my mother and i had a frank conversation one day about what taking on the changing of the laws.  ultimately it meant i would never have the chance to play (as changing laws takes FOREVER).  i said i wanted to continue in order to give someone an opportunity someday!  now we lived in MA while i was in middle and h.s. (tim grew up in fl). and we took on the great commonwealth.  it did take awhile, but we did it, got the laws changed!  i never played, but i knew others would, including my very own son now!  tim had that opportunity too (not because of me and my mother, but we helped move the nation along in recognizing the opportunity lost by excluding homeschoolers)  his mother worked very hard in fl in this area as well!  we have always heard about tim, my father called me when he made it on the gators, called me the when he won the heisman, e-mailed me when he was the first round draft pick.  this kid has had a great opportunity and he has been blessed by parents who fought for him to. 
i have been a tim tebow fan since he played when i could not!  so saturday's game...i am a tim tebow fan!
