this may take awhile...

alright, this is going to hurt...i had a bad moment this past weekend (yes, you remember correctly, it was my birthday)  and no, that is not the reason :P  actually i had a very low parenting moment :(  it was my bottom and i was forced to look deep, into my Bible and my heart, about why.  the answer was clutter!  WHAT??!!  yeah, too much going on in so many places has brought my mind and heart too far from where it should be.

so now what?  how do i get my mind out of this clutter to make our surroundings better, the plan better, the life better.  start with the heart.  well, mine was in a REALLY scary place at that point, the end of my rope.  i really didn't want to dig, i didn't want to change me, i did want to nap and make it all go away...so i read my Bible, choose to do the right thing and get my butt moving even thought i didn't feel like it.  funny how the verses i was reading were based on faith, not on knowing where we are going ;)   i hated it, didn't want to, didn't even know what i was going to do about this.  but i got off the couch and i prayed as i deep cleaned our master bedroom.  you know what i found?  LOTS OF DUST!  this room is really the last on the list in our lives, perhaps that is what lead me to it first this time.  clearly what i had been doing wasn't working!

this built in office was a gift from my hubby on the occasion of my 30th birthday!  great use of this awkward space in our room!!

why post these after pics??  because they will keep me accountable!

what really came out of cleaning my room?  well, i got rid of stuff, yes, both tangible and mental.  i really hadn't figured out what the answer to this clutter issue robbing me of the life bill and i had planned, but my room was clean and i took that for the day.  i slept a little better that night.  ok, one day at a time and a new day dawns, now what?

clutter is taking over and i have no energy, time, or desire to spend time with my kids once the school work is done because i am just so overwhelmed and don't even know where to start.  grrrrrr, so i began.  one room a day.  i am going through it, make it work for the way we live.  i have rules for myself.  if i am taking something out of that room and taking to another...1) if it's a room already done, then i must find the right spot to put the item away, or 2) if it's a room not already done, i will do my best to put it away, but won't waste time and be distracted from the real task (it will be taken care of when that room is on the chopping block ;))

as part of this cleaning i am learning about somethings i always took for granted as a young mother and didn't have time to re-vamp as the kids/life changed.  so the need for a household binder has emerged.  what is it?  the nerve center of an organized home.  one binder to keep track of weekly cleaning jobs, the info for kids sports, babysitter info sheet, budget, coupons and shopping list...many options tailored to your family and life :)   this will be the manual once the house is in order, a guide to keeping it from getting like this again.  oh yeah!  now there have been questions about this over on my fb page.  i will be posting more about the creation of my binder and many links, pics, and hosting a party for creating your own!!  stay tuned ;)

back to the house...so the work is helping my mood, which is helping my attitude with the kids, helping my mind rest at night, and even with more work, finding more quality time with the Lord.  AMAZING!  it's a progress, i have loads left to do, and i'm sure there will be bumps...but man this is so worth it!

take a look at some before and after from my work today
